Returnable Delivery Challan Format (RGP) Free PDF, Excel · A4 · no sign-up

A returnable delivery challan is the document for goods that leave your premises expecting to come back — a compressor going out for repair, tyre casings for retreading, gas cylinders, moulds and dies, tools lent to a site, stock going to an exhibition. Factories call the same sheet an RGP, a returnable gate pass, and its opposite an NRGP for anything that is not coming back. Two fields make it work: what the goods went out for, and the date they are due back. The discipline that makes it work is a return register the gate closes off when they arrive, because Section 143 CGST runs the same clock for job work — inputs back within a year, capital goods within three — and a challan with no return-by date on it is a challan nobody ever chases.

Questions

Does a returnable delivery challan need an e-way bill?

If the consignment value crosses your state's threshold, yes — the fact that the goods are coming back does not exempt the movement. The e-way bill is raised against the challan, with the challan number and date as the document reference. Both legs count: the trip out needs one, and so does the return trip, raised against whichever challan covers it.

What is the difference between a returnable challan and a job work challan?

Job work is one of the reasons goods go out returnable — the tax law names it because Section 143 attaches a time limit to it. RGP is the wider framing a factory gate uses: repair, calibration, exhibition, tools on loan and job work all leave on the same returnable gate pass. Same document, same fields; the reason row is what tells them apart.

What happens if returnable goods never come back?

The movement stops being a loan and becomes a supply, treated as having happened on the day the goods left — not the day you noticed. That means tax on the value stated on the challan plus interest running from the original date. Inputs have one year and capital goods three under Section 143; anything else, your own return-by date is the only alarm you get.

Is the returnable challan (rgp) free to download?

Yes. PDF, Excel download without a sign-up, an email address or a watermark. You can also put your own business name and GSTIN on it from the panel beside the document and print that — nothing you type is uploaded anywhere.

Can I change what is on this delivery challan?

Yes. The panel beside the document adds and drops blocks — letterhead, e-way bill row, reason for transportation, signatures — and switches paper size, language and the number of item rows. Whatever the document shows is what downloads.
